500RPM present at La Noche de Chubut organized by the European Union
On Wednesday, November 27, Fundación 500RPM had the honor of participating in a dinner organized by the Embassy of the European Union in Argentina, a space that brought together leaders and strategic actors in the development of the province of Chubut. The President of 500RPM, Luciana Proietti, shared with the Governor of Chubut, Ignacio Torres, the ambassador of the European Union, Amador Sánchez Rico, and representatives of key areas of the government, civil society organizations and companies present.
The meeting focused on promoting a cooperation agenda for the development of Chubut, addressing initiatives at different stages of progress. Among the highlighted projects, the opportunities that wind energy in the province offers to strengthen local production were discussed, including the RedER Chubut project: Fair and Inclusive Energy Transition of Family Farming, led by Fundación 500RPM in collaboration with local institutions and co-financed by the European Union in Argentina.
RedER Chubut: towards an inclusive and sustainable energy modelThis project, which will be implemented between 2024 and 2027, aims to promote a fair and inclusive energy transition, integrating renewable energies with family farming. Through three main axes —production, education and governance—, it seeks to transform the energy and economic matrix of the region, providing tools to strengthen resilience and improve the quality of life of local producers.
As part of this initiative, the following will be implemented:
Frutillas del Viento, a sustainable horticultural production model powered by wind energy, in partnership with INTA Esquel.
Training in renewable energies, through the manufacture of 24 wind turbines in technical schools and the training of teams for their installation and maintenance.
Participatory governance, which includes the development of local energy transition agendas and the improvement of income for small producers in the region.
Launch event: a milestone for the energy transitionThe project was launched on November 21 at the Rural Society of Esquel, a day in which the initial progress and the goals to be achieved were presented. The event was attended by Ilse Couge, Head of Cooperation of the Argentine Delegation of the European Union, along with other representatives, and the Minister of Production Laura Mirantes, as well as mayors and municipal officials from the 8 localities participating in the project (Tecka, Paso de Indios, Paso del Sapo, Gualjaina, El Hoyo, Cholila, Alto Río Percy - Esquel and Los Cipreses - Trevelin), consolidating a collective commitment towards a more sustainable future. The protagonists of the project were also present: producers, managers, teachers and students of technical schools and other institutional actors, as well as members of the four organizations that implement the project: 500RPM, INTA, Ibero-American Union of Municipalists and Patagonia Natural Foundation.
500RPM Foundation reaffirms its commitment to energy transition and climate action, working collaboratively to build solutions that transcend generations.
