Collaborative governance: building an Energy Transition Agenda from the territories

In this first year, we made progress toward building a Just and Inclusive Energy Transition Agenda for Family Farming, a participatory instrument that seeks to incorporate energy as a right and a tool for rural development.
We signed five agreements with local governments (including Paso de Indios, Paso del Sapo, El Hoyo, and Trevelin) and carried out awareness-raising activities to strengthen institutional commitment. We also held one Governance Workshop for a Just and Inclusive Energy Transition for Family Farming, and two Gender Workshops in Esquel: Leadership and Positive Actions for rural women and officials from the Province of Chubut.
📍Also:
- We participated in strategic events such as #EUMeetings and "La Noche del Chubut."
- We coordinated with the province's Minister of Production, who visited project producers and committed to improving access to water.
- We have begun the bidding process for consulting services for the design of the Agenda.
The groundwork and inter-institutional connections achieved in this first year of the project are already creating the conditions for the effective implementation of training for officials and the formal design of the Agenda in the second year.
The project has established links with other public and private organizations, as well as with other initiatives in the province, such as the Energía Joven project. RedER Chubut will continue expanding its reach to new locations throughout 2025, recruiting producers, strengthening local technical capacities, and promoting a sustainable, inclusive, and clean energy rural development model.
This transition is not imposed: it is co-constructed with local stakeholders, technicians, governments, and communities. RedER Chubut has the support and accompaniment of INTA (National Institute of Statistics and Census) in Esquel, as well as the interest of the Chubut Government, whose Minister of Production visited beneficiary producers and committed to actions to improve access to water. It is co-financed by the European Union in Argentina (European Union) and promoted by the 500RPM Foundation, together with the Ibero-American Union of Municipalists and the Patagonia Natural Foundation.
